Switching shipping options doesn't update order total correctly

1: So when I first apply a gift code on the checkout page, let’s say a $100 gift card to a $100 order total ($90 for products plus $10 for shipping), the total order amount to be payed is correctly displayed at $0.

2: When I then switch to free shipping, the gift card amount is updated to only $90, and the total order amount to be payed is still correctly displayed at $0, since the order toalt is also $90. So far so good.

3: Re-adding the original $10 shipping option, the the gift card amount is again updated back to $100, but the order total to be payed is now stuck at $10. Even though the gift card has been updated to $100, for the total order amount of $100 that includes shipping, it still says $10 needs to be paid.

Any ideas here, is this maybe a bug, or is my sandbox just screwed up? ??
