    Hi,

    Thank you for using CusRev.

Can you please share a screenshot of the symbol which should display instead of question marks?

    Hey,

sadly I can’t tell you what should be displayed instead of question marks. If I go into Dashboard – Reviews tab – I still see only question marks. If you see the picture I’ve attached it consists of a totally positive review but is filled with question marks.

Complete translation of the review in question is:
Super! I’m totally satisfied with the product (I’ve even ordered two products), ??, nice workers in the shop, fast, they even brought the products straight to my home, ?, anyways, only praises ????.

As you can see question marks don’t fit in to the message that the customer wanted to and are

If I’d had to guess those question marks are probably emojis.

I have had the same issue. It is emojis now showing up as question marks. Please see the image below

@jasawpm could you please try to temporarily deactivate our plugin and post a new review with emoji directly on the product page?

Hey, we’ve tested as per your instructions and it still doesn’t work – we still get question marks.

    Best regards,

    Thanks for providing additional information!

If the same issue happens when our plugin is deactivated, it means that the issue is caused by the general WordPress database configuration and not by our plugin.

Please reach out to the person who setup WordPress on your website and ask them to check what is the character set in the comments table. It is recommended to use a character set that supports emoji – such as utf8mb4.

    Hey,

we’ve tried disabling the plugin – it doesn’t work.

we’ve tried disabling the theme – doesn’t work.

Database is set to utf8mb4 – doesn’t work.

Looking in to database we can see that there are entries from July of last year (2022) that are written WITH emojis, but it doesn’t show them on the front. Or better said, it shows them as question marks.

Newer comments (like this years – 2023) are written in database with question marks.

Do you have any other suggestions?

If you get the same problem with emoji while our plugin is deactivated, it means it is a general problem in your WordPress installation. Are you able to display emojis in usual comments (not reviews)?

We haven’t heard from you for more than two weeks. For this reason, I’ll assume that either you are not interested in this question/problem anymore or it has been resolved. If you still require any help, please start a new forum topic.
