The sync process has to go through several steps:
- Generate a list from the database of all media files in the current folder and store them in memory
- Scan for all the files in current directory
- For each file, check if it is in the list from the database. If not found, generate thumbnail images and meta data and add new records to the media library database.
All this steps are required to import files into the media library. The pro version of the plugin has a maintenance feature that can server as bulk imported, but after scanning for files that need importing, one must indicate which files should be imported. There is also another plugin you can try, Add From Server. If this plugin is used, it is necessary to add any new folders that contain media files to import to Media Library Folders before using Add From Server.
