Sync with Square: formatted Rich text gets converted to plain text. How to fix?
-
I am a merchant who sells items through Square Point of Sale (at face-to-face markets). I am trying to create a WooCommerce website that syncs to my Square product inventory.
I am using Square as the product System of Record (SOR). (When I tried making WooCoommerce the SOR as a possible fix, it seemed to cause problems.)
Here is an example of a product that is synced between Square and WooCommerce:
Square: https://stuartmcmillen.square.site/product/art-print-rainbow-crested-cockatoo-canberra/26
WooCommerce: https://www.stuartmcmillen.com/product/art-print-rainbow-crested-cockatoo-archival-paper/As you can see, all of the formatting is stripped out of the WooCommerce descriptions. There is no bold text, italic text, bullet points, hyperlinks, etc, in my WooCommerce listing. It is just plain text.
If I manually update the formatting of the text descriptions in WooCommerce, the next time that the data syncs across, the formatting gets overwritten with plain text.(once every hour)
The formatting in Square’s description is created using a rich text editor. There is no way to manually directly edit/view the HTML tags. Still, surely the formatting must exist somewhere in Square’s sytem, and could be scraped across. I would really appreciate if a Square developer and a WooCommerce developer could please talk to each other and create an efficient solution to this problem.
My question is: can you please suggest a way to allow this formatting to be displayed on my WooCommerce pages, and to properly sync with my Square product library.
I find the formatting to be an important part of the way that my products are displayed on my website. So far this is the only feature that I am missing in my transition from Square to WooCommerce. Thanks in advance for suggesting a fix.
