Syncronize PART of an Intranet WordPress site to an Internet WordPress site?

  • I’ve been approached by our Communications staff with a request. We are setting up a WordPress site for Internal use, and they would like to be able to classify certain Intranet postings as “Public” (via a Category) and have the messages then appear on an Internet facing WordPress site.

    Being slightly (?) paranoid, I really don’t want to mingle the two sites on the same box. I’m envisioning a situation where each site operates on it’s own system, with appropriate postings flowing from Intranet to Internet. Postings, and edits.

    Has anyone done this before? Any hints? I’m new to WordPress so anything is more than I currently know. I have not seen a Plug-in to do what I want yet, so I was thinking it might have to be done via scripted Exports and Imports on a timed basis.

    Advisable? Crazy? Do able?
