Synonym Attribute Filter Issue

  • I have having a strange issue with synonyms within Relevanssi searches and wondered if anyone could help?

    If I perform a search in the normal way with an expected keyword with the plugin then I get the results as expected, the page loads with all the products as well as my sidebar with product attribute filters in them.

    I have set up a Synonym ‘silver = chrome’, so when I search silver it shows me all of the chrome products EXCEPT the product attribute filters do not show? Only the product category widget is displayed? Can anyone advise on what might be causing this or how I am best debugging it?

    I’m not sure how the theme could see there’s a synonym in use; it should not make any difference for the theme.

    What is generating those product attribute filters? I’d start by investigating that. Does it have some kind of trigger? Why it is not being triggered, if there’s a synonym in use?

    Is the template the same? Do the search page URLs look the same, or is there a difference?

    There’s some questions for starters.
