• Unfortunately I messed with the codes in custom header.php and am unable to access my website anymore. Below is what appears when I type in my website URL:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/sarsch40/bshscampuscrier.com/wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen/inc/custom-header.php on line 149

I need my website back and up and running without these changes that I made, and unfortunately I am unable to log in to erase the code from line 149.

I only use wordpress online, I do not use anything on my desktop to make my website. How can I get my website back?

  • Without seeing code, it is hard to say anything. But I guess, you have not closed the PHP block in that file. You need to find out and fix the code. Or please paste the code here so that I can check

You can either use an FTP Client, such as FileZilla or your host provided file management tools to edit /wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen/inc/custom-header.php

To get your site back up right away, rename that file and upload an unedited one from download of 2014 theme.

Additional note: Please do not edit Parent Themes. Use a Child Theme. Parent Theme edits are lost on theme update. Since you will want an FTP Client to create an work on the Child Theme, I suggest you take that route now.
