• Dear all,

After updating the theme Zerif-lite it didn’t quite work well, so I decided to fall-back to the backup (files & DB) I made just before updating.

I erased everything and after uploading all the files, and importing the Database I get this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /domains/mydomain.nl/DEFAULT/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/inc/jetpack.php on line 1

On the root as well as on /wp-login.php. So I’m stuck.

If you have a solution that addresses the problem, that would be most welcomed. Thank you in advance.

    Regards, Thomas.

  • Hi! I had the same problem while migrating my WordPress site.

Just open the following files in your mentioned folder in /domains/mydomain.nl/DEFAULT/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/inc/

    jetpack.php
    extras.php
    hooks.php

Scroll down to the bottom of each of these files and insert a closing php tag ‘?>’ and save them.

My problem vanished as soon as I did that. Good luck!

try to transfer again in Binary Mode, you can define the transfer type in your file transfer manager (in Ex. FileZilla)

Just had this problem and fixed as follows.
It was not just the jetpack.php that had the problem- also hooks.php and extras.php in the same folder.
When I viewed the server version of the files the code was condensed, on the back up file it was not- simply copied the back up content and pasted it over the server file, saved and problem fixed.
I then had to go to /wp-login.php instead of my usual /wp-admin.php route to the dashboard.
