syntax error, unexpected '{' in installer.php

That is odd, sounds like the installer file didn’t get created correctly. Is this is continually happening after several build attempts?

I only tried the one, then went back to the old fashioned routine. I’ll have a chance to try again soon when that site goes live.

While I have the site built, I have not published it yet. Expect to do that in the next few day. I’ll give you a report.

This is the second time I’ve run into this issue. I’m curious if the third time is the charm ??

Today was the big day. Scan and packaging went without a hitch. Uploaded files in binary mode to my server and entered url to installer.php:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘,’ in /home/wpsecur/public_html/pocketpipe/installer.php on line 787

That is quite odd. If you want to submit a support ticket I’ll check it out, it might be related to a timeout issue where the installer file is not being finalized.

Naw, I’m not going to bug you about this stuff. I think it has something to do with going from localhost to live server. I seem to be able to go the other way around, packaging a live site and installing it on my desktop server.

The archive is a mere 30MB, and packed up plenty fast. No large files, all systems reported ‘Good’.

I tried several more times. Trying to access installer.php via the browser displayed a page of hieroglyphics. At least I didn’t get an error ??

I’m using Chrome Canary. Maybe I should try in FireFox?!

There is a possibility that the actual download of the file is getting corrupted via the browser. If you want to be 100% sure your getting the file correctly you can always FTP to your site and look in the wp-snapshots directory for the installer file and then pull it down via FTP.

If you still get the error above then something is happening during the build process that is not allowing you to get a properly built installer file…

OMG – Just looked at one of the xxx_installer.php files in the snapshot directory and discovered it is normal code. Who knew. What your are saying is I can re-name, move and use the installer file from the snapshot directory?! I’ll test it right not and report back.

I thought you had some clever encryption or compression going on there. I didn’t know I was looking at a corrupt file ??

Ah that looks like a MIME type issue with your web server. I would work with your host to find out why its being converted to a binary format when attempting to download.

I’m not downloading, that is from my local install using xamplite via DesktopServer

Yeah off the top of my head I’m not sure where to update that on Apache. It is either a MIME type issue or possibly a gzip issue.

I’ll have to do some digging around to see if there is a solution somewhere…
