Hello Tobias, this is not really a support topic but a normal question (or maybe a suggestion for new features).
I was wondering if it’s possible to turn a table into a list of files to download. In other words, one cell would contain a link (or even a small icon) to the file. Do you think it can be done? If yes, do you think it would be possible to enable/disable the download link according to the users being logged in or not?

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

This should be possible, but you would need to handle the file URLs manually. You could also show/hide rows depending on whether a user is logged in or not. However, if one knows the URL, it would still be active.

Therefore, you might be better off using a plugin that has been designed for such downloads, like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/download-manager/.
You might then have to check if it offers a list view.

    Regards,
    Tobias

?? Funny you suggest Download Manager, because I come from that. It has many issues related to theme conflists (and not only to that) and that’s why I was wondering if I could use Tablepress, which is very stable instead. Also having one plugin handling more features is better than having 2 plugins. .)

    Hi,

oh, sorry ?? I have never used Download Manager before, which might be why I didn’t know about these problems.
You could use TablePress, but it will not give you more than a table that you have to manually fill. You’d still have to create those download links through other ways, to get user access control and download statistics, etc.

    Regards,
    Tobias
