I can construct tables, but entering data fails. When I add data manually, everything seems to work fine, saying “Successfully saved the data”, and I can see the rows I entered. But, leaving the data entry tab, going to configuration and getting back to data entry, all the entered data are gone, leaving the table empty.
The same happens when importing csv. It says “Successfully uploaded data”, but the table is still empty.
    What am I missing?

P.S: I have WP 4.6.1, with Theme “Freelancer” which is a child theme of LoginPress

In the meantime I have updated WP to 4.9.1, changed the theme, all to no avail. What to do?

    Diagnosis:
Looking at the mysql database I realize that there is no table whatsoever where data could be stored: the installation process has failed, as there ought to be the table “wp_ninja_table_items”.
    Reason:
In my installation there is a problem with index building which seems to affect mysql versions lower than 5.7 (I have 5.6.37).
    Workaround:
I entered the sql commands manually and added the option ROW_FORMAT=DYNAMIC to the “create table” sql command.
