• I went to login into the wp-admin panel and received an error saying that the database needed repair as noted above. I clicked on repair database and report came back with this error:

wp_options: Table is marked as crashed. Any help available for non developer?
The site appears to be live.

Try to repair the table in phpMyAdmin:

    • Login to phpMyAdmin
    • Select the affected database if it is not already chosen by default.
    • You should see a list of your database tables. Check the box to select the wp_options table.
    • At the bottom of the window just below the list of tables, there is a drop down menu. Choose “Repair Table”

If you cannot find PhpMyAdmin in your hosting control panel or if you are unsure about doing this, contact your hosting company for help.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will certainly try this. The odd part is that after posting the error I went to shut down and the wordpress admin was back and all seemed to be working fine. Would it be safe to assume that all is well or is the table still in need of work? Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi Minione,

If your site is up and running and your running into no issues on the dashboard, its most likely safe to say the issue was just a quick bug and has been sorted. From my past experiences if repairing the table doesn’t work, then my sites down.

If it looks OK, you probably don’t need to do another repair, but make sure you take a regular backup of the database (& backup the site files as well), so you can recover the site if this occurs again and there are problems repairing the database.

    Hello,

Thank you, I am more than happy not to mess around with it, but the first thing I did was a full backup. This all started with an update to the plugin to back up site. No names, but it sure did a number on the site. Big thanks to you and Evan.

    Have a great new year.
    Minione.
