    Hi,

I’m getting the following when attempting to save a table:

Saving failed: AJAX call failed: error – Internal Server Error. Try again while holding down the “Shift” key.

Edit: Might be worth to note that the issue only affects a single table. All the old tables can still be altered and saved.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Are you using WordPress 3.9.1 and TablePress 1.4? If not, please update and try again.

Otherwise, if possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thanks for the quick reply. I just send you the temp account details. The table in question is id 9. Other tables (both new and old) don’t have the same issue.

    Hi,

thanks for the account details. I can reproduce the problem, and from what I can see, this is related to some configuration on the server.
When this table is saved, the server only responds with a “Internal Server Error” message. I assume that the server didn’t like something about the request, for example some data in the table.

Can you please check if there’s more information in the server error log? Also, can you find out if there are any security extensions installed on the server that might be responsible for this?

    Regards,
    Tobias

I have no idea how to go about that.

    Hi,

you should find the error log on the server (when logging in via FTP). Otherwise (also for the second question), you might have to ask the support of your webhost for this.

Found my error logs. Nothing beyond may 15th. For the moment i need to thank you for your help, but my attention is now needed on a more serious safety concern. I’m sorry.

    Hi,

sure, I totally understand! If you happen to find something else on this, please let me know!
Other than some server configuration or server extension issue, I can’t really think of something else that might be causing this. As it seems, the save request is not reaching TablePress (or WordPress here), but it’s intercepted/blocked before that by the server.
If this were a general problem in TablePress, we should see it with all tables.

It’s not really an issue since all i wanted to do was disable row sorting. The table itself is functioning like all the others. My best bet is a corruption of the html table used for import. I was a way from keyboard while working on it, and came back to find a large amount of whitespace inside the file. Since my security log tells me i have the dubious honor of receiving abnormal amounts of attention from several .ru sites and ip’s i need to track down a posible connection (scan site and workspace computer).

Once again, thank you so much for your support. Hope i didn’t bother you to much.

    Hi,

no worries, I’m always happy when I can help!
All the best for tracking down those security issues!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
