• Hello and thank you very much for your very useful Plugin!

I have an issue with the “Table of Content” block. It finds and links headings in the normal page just fine – but when I create a cover block with a heading inside (which is not an unusual use case) those headings are not found and included in the table of contents.

Is there a workaround for this? Any help is greatly appreciated as the toc block would be quite a time-saver for editing my pages.

    Thank you!

    Hello there!

Sorry to hear that you faced such an issue but thank you for your feedback.

We appreciate it and we’re glad to hear that you find our plugin useful.

As for the issue, may I ask you to provide the exact steps we need to take to reproduce it so we can check everything out and pass on all the info to our developers’ team, please? Thank you!

    Hi Eugene,

thank you for your kind reply. The steps to reproduce my issue are:

    1. On a page or post, in Gutenberg, create a normal H2 Heading block.
    2. Then, below, create a Cover block with a second H2 heading block inside.
    3. After that, create the Getwid Table of Content block and check if both headings are listed.

In my case, only the heading that is not within a Cover block is listed, the one inside the Cover block is not listed.

Hope that helps. Thanks again for your precious work and your help in this case! With many greetings and the best wishes for 2024 –

    Peter

    Hello there.

Thank you for your response and for the steps to reproduce the issue.
The thing is that the “Cover” block is not a Getwid plugin’s block. That’s why there may be an issue with your heading recognition by the “Table of Contents” block from our plugin. Besides, this block is meant to work with text headings, not block headings, I think. But in any case, I escalated your request to our developers’ team for them to double-check that and implement a solution if this block is indeed meant to list block headings too.

Getwid has always been a very useful extension to native Gutenberg blocks, so I just thought it would be great if it worked with Gutenberg heading blocks, no matter where in the block hierarchy they are.

Thank you, Eugene, for getting back on this issue and also for forwarding it to your developers! I appreciate it.
