    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

The problem does not seem to be jQuery itself (and you should deactivate the jQuery Updater plugin, as it is always better to use the jQuery version that comes with WordPress). Instead, the problem seems to be a missing function/script in the “responsive-scripts.js” file of your theme. There’s an error reported about a missing “placeholder” function in that file. Due to that, the browser will stop executing the remaining JavaScript code on the page, including that for the search.

I can gladly take a look again after you turn off jQuery Updater, just to confirm the assumption, but most likely you’ll have to contact the support team or developer of the theme about this missing function.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you Tobias. You are so wonderfully prompt, courteous, and helpful!

Once you responded, you gave me a different thing to search for in trying to figure this out. – the missing function. A month ago, you responded to a question and the person installed a child theme, which then made things work due to an update in the theme. So, I deactivated jQuery, installed the child theme with the update, and everything worked, except my google maps plugin. So, I reactivated jQuery Updater and now google maps works and so does the search in TablePress.

You put publishers of paid plugins to shame, so I’m going to donate now.
