We have 2 issues that are not covered in Documentation, FAQs, or threads. Showing both issues in case they are related.

1 – TABLEPRESS ADDS EXTRA COLUMN ON FRONT END

(I’ve seen Support threads on extra columns being added when importing from Excel or CSV but this is not the case here.)

Table content in back end: Header column 1 is an image (our logo) and header column 2 is “32 Bit Application [1]”.

However, on the front end you can see a small extra column between column 1 and column 2. The text in that extra column looks like the last word of the prior column. For example:

    r) looks like the end of the word (Server) in column 1

    B) looks like the end of the word (Fox-DB) in column 1

Column 1 width was already set to 300px. I changed it to 500px to see if that would get rid of the extra column. I saved changes and refreshed my browser to see the front-end. It flashed wider for a second, and then returned to the same size without fix the extra column.

2 – HEADER COLUMN WIDTH & ALIGNMENT ARE OFF FROM REST OF TABLE

(I looked at other Header Alignment Support threads but they were unrelated.)

Column width and alignment are off between the header and the rest of the table. The problem ot column width/alignment appears to be only in Chrome; Safari looks fine.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

These issues actually are the same: This is caused by the FixedColumns feature. It appears that that’s not able to properly determine all column widths in the table, so that they don’t line up with the control elements (the feature essentially adds another first column and head row on top of the table).
Now, it seems that you are using another table plugin, WP Reponsive Table, which also applies CSS code to this table. Can you maybe test again after temporarily deactivating that plugin?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you for your quick reply, Tobias. I wanted to try this during off hours. I wasn’t aware of the WP Responsive Table plugin. Deactivating it did fix the issue and hopefully will not create any other issues. We’ll have to test responsiveness tomorrow. I would like to ask my manager if we can donate as a thank you – if not, I will do something. Unfortunately, I don’t think you want us to review TablePress as we had to switch to another plugin due to its limitations. We only kept this set of TablePress tables because it was difficult to build. Thanks again.

    Hi,

great! Good to hear that this helped for now!

Also, thanks a lot for wanting to donate, and for your openness regarding the review! You are right about that — I’d still like to hear more though ??
What limitations in TablePress made you switch? Maybe it’s something that I have ideas or approaches for?

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
