    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

What error message are you (or your friend) getting? That would really help here.

    Thanks!
    Tobias

My friend gets the following errors

Error: The table could not be saved.

On other occasions it comes up with an AJAX error where it says to hold down shift.

I have had these errors however I am able to edit and save changes.

    Hi,

thanks for the details. It’s a bit strange that you are not getting these errors…

If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Not a problem I will email you shortly. Peter

    Hi Peter,

thanks! I received the email with the account details and was able to log. I can confirm that I do also receive that error message.

When looking closely, the error is a “500 Internal Server Error”. One reason for that could be that the PHP Memory Limit could be reached, which can happen when working with large tables.

To fix that, please try increasing that PHP memory limit on the server, by increasing the value of the WP_MEMORY_LIMIT constant in the wp-config.php file, e.g. to 512M, via the instructions from https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

The error should then hopefully no longer appear.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi, I have found where to increase the memory but I cannot find the other bits to do with cache? Any chance you can help. Peter

    Hi,

no worries, only the part about the WP_MEMORY_LIMIT constant is relevant here.

Hi. Sadly my colleague is still experiencing the same issues. Any ideas!? Ive still got you as an admin if you need to go in again. Very strange this. Peter

    Hi,

hhm, that’s really strange then ??
Can you find out what exact (desired) changes/modification trigger this for him? Does the same then happen with another browser? Does it happen to you as well (with those desired changes)?

    Regards,
    Tobias

I have had the following reply if it helps at all. Let me know. Peter

    ———————
I have just spent three hours going through everything to make sure I have not been missing something obvious.

I think I use Google to browse – I think. You know I am not good on the technical bits.

I remember trying Google Chrome a couple of years ago and it really messed other things up.

I have on my Desktop the link you sent me to access the TablePress/WordPress.

When I press the link it brings up the DASHBOARD – I noticed in the box running across the top of the screen:-

https://www.castlemagicalservices.co.uk/Preowned-books/wp-admin/ but the symbol just before http is a blue e with a yellow band going round it.

When I have copied and pasted the link to the Google box – the link line has a G in front of it – does that mean anything? But it still does not work.

I am upsetting so many customers by not keeping things current – sadly I think we have to call it a day and lose the WordPress thing – it literally is driving me crazy and using up far too much of my time.

Tried again now – now getting this message

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at root@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
    Apache/2.4.18 (Unix) Server at https://www.castlemagicalservices.co.uk Port 80

I borrowed a tablet (not very powerful) and eventually accessed the WordPress and managed to delete one DVD – but once I started to try on books it kept saying ERROR Unable to Save and also the above message.

Hi Tobias, have you had any thoughts in regard to previous reply about tablepress? Many thanks in advance for any help. Appreciated. Peter

    (@tobiasbg)

    Hi Peter.

I just logged-in again, but I simply can’t reproduce the error any more, with the now-increased memory limit.
I’m able to edit all three tables just fine, without any problems.

I simply have no clue why your friend is getting all those errors ??

    Regards,
    Tobias
