Serious Issue with Database Restore – Tables Are Merging

I encountered a significant problem while using UpdraftPlus to restore my database. On August 1st, I created a database backup with 90 tables. Later, I updated my website by installing new plugins and themes, which increased the number of tables to 150. However, due to issues with the new plugins and themes, I decided to restore the database backup from August 1st.

After restoring the backup, I expected to revert to the 90 tables that were originally in my database. Unfortunately, UpdraftPlus not only restored the old tables but also retained the new problematic tables, leaving me with 115 tables instead of just the 90 I wanted. This is extremely frustrating because I expected the restore process to completely revert my database to its previous state, without merging it with the newer tables.

This issue is causing ongoing problems as I can’t fully revert to a stable version of my database. UpdraftPlus needs to ensure that only the selected backup is restored, without retaining any new tables that were created after the backup was made.
Note: I am using an old Version?2.23.14.26 because there is an option to write Label/Notes of each backup.

    Hi there,

The database restore is non destructive so it will overwrite tables but not delete them.
Normally, uninstalling the plugin should remove all the accompanying database tables.
In this case you would either need a fresh install to restore to or manually delete tables.

    Best regards,

    Nick
