    Hi,
    this would be a brilliant plugin for me, but I’m just not managing to get the tabs to show. I have checked the option for ‘posts’, and disabled all plugins that also interfered with the editor screen or posts (Advanced Post Excerpt, Custom Post Templates, Reveal IDs).
    Any tips on what else to try?

    Hey,

    Let’s see how we can make this work for you. So if I get it correctly, you have created the tabs for posts and checked the checkbox to activate it for posts, right?

    So nothing changes on the edit screen of a post? Can you check if there are Javascript errors being triggered? Unsure what your knowledge is but for chrome that would be right click with the mouse and select inspect.

    Can you also send me the list of all the plugins you currently have activated with the theme if it’s from www.ads-software.com?

    Apologies, I simply misunderstood the purpose of the plugin.
    I thought a new tab e.g., ‘categories’ tab would give me a screen or at least editor window sized view of the silly big list of categories I have. So that I dont have to squint when I go through 3 pages of categories in window measuring 4x4cm.
    Guess i just have to look for something else.

    Ah, ok. You can move the categorie meta box to that tab and then manually move it to the left column. Defining where the meta box should be placed isn’t in this plugin but it’s something I look at. Most likely a child plugin extending this one.

    Aha.
    I guess I was just really to tired already last night. Honestly did try whatever I could think of before I posted here. But; yes, a tab with categories in the central area of the screen is exactly what I want. I have that now, which is an improvement, but it is still a big list to scroll through in limited screen space.
    One fix would be to have the categories tab have a multi-column layout. I have no idea how difficult it would be to change that. I also understand its more of a feature request rather than an error report.

    Just to be clear, I would like my category tab screen to be laid out as this:

    1 6 11 16 21
    2 7 12 17 22
    3 8 13 18 23
    4 9 14 19 24
    5 10 15 20 25

    And not like this:

    That’s not something this plugin will do. Our goals is to maintain a lot of metaboxes in an easy way and not to adjust the layout/functionality of a metabox.

    In your case you want the logic of the category metabox to be different. In general to be responsive. Maybe even add a searchbar to make it work better. Curious is that WordPress doesn’t have that by default. Hopefully you will find a plugin that does something like you want.
