Tag as priority and then show others

  • Hello,

    We have a problem. We have around 10k posts. There are often words like Guide, Tips etc. The problem is that no matter how I try to change the match threshold or other settings, the title is always more important than tags even though tags has increased priority in the settings. Even if a tag has 100 posts then the title from a completely different tag and taxonomy is preferred just based on the title.

    Can we adjust the formula somewhere to put even more priority to tags?

    Or, could we choose something like “Requires at least one tag in common if there is none, consider the other settings like title, categories etc.” Because if there is not enough posts under the same tag then it shows nothing which is not good because there could be other nice relevant articles…

    Hello @keengamer

    We have a few questions to help you with this:
    1. How much Match threshold have you set up under plugin settings?
    2. Have you tried by clearing the cache from plugin settings after making changes?
    3. Also can you try changing the Algorithm settings so “Tags” has “consider with extra weight” and “Title” has “consider” or “do not consider” but not “consider with extra weight”? Make sure you clear the case after changing these settings.

    Hello,

    I have tried it all before writing here. It doesn’t help. We tried threshold from 1 to 10 as well. Simply, it’s not good and having the options I wrote above would be best. Mainly the other condition regarding tags and having at least 1 tag OR follow other conditions…

    Hello, that is not a solution. That takes posts ONLY based on tags. But then posts which belong to a tag which doesn’t have many posts have no related articles. That is wrong. See number 1 which is how it looks with our settings and number 2 with your settings. Stray review has no related posts, that is wrong. See here https://imgur.com/a/2zNveut

    So still, the problem is the same. I need to use Titles together with the tags. And IF there is not enough tags it should use posts based on the titles and not just maily from the same category. You have no options to work with tags first but if there are NO other posts in the tag then it should use the title based on the other conditions. But even if there are 50 posts under the same tag which is enough then it still should calculate and use similar titles, not just simply what tag it is under.

    There is no option for it now in your plugin… ??

    I’m not the developer but was looking for the same. I used the shortcode with custom weights to accomplish this.
