  • @nppbc, are you using shortcode or ATP function to display that particular gallery?

@nppbc – Have you tried over-riding the thumbnails in the Customization panel and making sure the set fix dimension is on as well. Tag Gallery displays pull from the “original” galleries and will use the thumbnails as they are found there.

You may also need to clear your image cache once you re-save the new customization of that particular gallery under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous

    Thanks!

All of that has been done. The portrait issue only occurs with the Tag gallery only.
I checked my settings and everything looks good. Here is a normal gallery page (ATP). Notice the first photo in the second row. That is a portrait photo.

Here is the same photo in the Tag gallery. I cleared the cache just as you recommended. This is how it’s displayed now. Third row, fourth photo.

@nppbc – My apologies, I was thinking a different item where there is an over-ride for the thumbnails.

This may be more complicated to accomplish with a TagCloud display. IIRC, you wanted to have portrait orientation for some of your thumbnails, and now you want them to be uniform when you use the TagCloud display. As it is, I do not believe it is possible to have both.

You could try the following: under Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Thumbnails … override the Thumbnail size and ensure set fix dimension is set to Yes.

Now go to each gallery that has images you will be showing in the TagCloud displays and either select the whole gallery or the specific images and generate new thumbnails for those images.

Next, clear your image cache … then have a look at the gallery.

Otherwise, this may need to be treated as a Feature Request to allow TagCloud displays to over-ride Thumbnail image sizes (if it applies to the display as selection under the Customization panel).

I do not want portrait thumbnails. I want them all to be just as the normal galleries are, cropped like I have set them in the beginning. I would imagine that this shouldn’t be a feature request because a TagGallery should be pulling the same thumbnail as a normally gallery. I’ve always had it set this way but for some reason the TagGallery has always presented a portrait photo with a portrait thumbnail regardless of how I cropped the thumb.

@nppbc – You have the the thumbnail dimension fixed under Gallery > Other Options > Thumbnail Options?

You generated new thumbnails for all of the galleries/images that are used in your TagCloud display? … but you are still seeing portrait orientations in some of those thumbnails.

That being the case, we will likely need to have a closer look under the page at your site as we are not seeing this in our testing. Would you be able to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with your site specifics?

We will need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!

@nppbc – Thank you! We can continue this conversation there while we continue to work through this issue.
