@dariocalamai Thanks for the notice, along with additional context. We will take a look and report back.

@dariocalamai I see you have indeed posted in our forums- sorry for not seeing this before and thank you. If you could share your site URL that would be great. A few questions in the meantime:

    1) Are you using transitional/ paired AMP for your website?

    2) Were you integrating Analytics (for AMP and non-AMP) using Tag Manager along with Site Kit? If so, currently Site Kit does not detect the pre-existing Tag Manager snippet, but we’re working on that here. It could partly be the reason why you saw a change in the data.

    3) It also sounds like what you experienced on your AMP pages could be due to this issue that we hope to resolve soon to ensure the AMP version of GTM is correctly placed.

Feel free to let us know if this could be affecting your site and we’d be happy to provide an update when the fixes are released.

    Hi @reneesoffice ,
    thank you for you message!

my site is I Love Val di Non , it’s a blog about Non Valley in Trentino, Italy
There are a couple of english post there
for example you can find AMP pages on Google from mobile searching “tovel lake”.

    1) I’m using classic AMP mode: my plugin add /amp to all URL posts
    Non-AMP page example
    AMP page example

    2) Before using Site Kit I used only Analytics code in AMP and non-AMP pages. I didn’t use GTM. I migrated to GTM using Site Kit.

    3) yeah! exactly how it happens to me!

I would like to send you more information about my “transition”.
    – How I said before Site Kit I used GA for non-AMP and AMP pages
    – I used custom script to identify AMP page on, something like: “extraUrlParams”:{“cd1″:”AMP”} because I need to create custom graphs on GA (I’ll add some example)
    – on nov 24 I added Site Kit and I used GA (scenario 1 from my Github post)
    – on nov 26 I move configuration from Scenario 1 to Scenario 2 (using GTM)
here some graphs taht could help to understand how happens: (segment notes: FBIA = Facebook Instant Articles, AMP = AMP pages (extraUrlParams now is missing), MOBILE noFBIAnoAMP = other mobile traffic, Desktop = Desktop segment ?? )
    * my AMP pages are now “splitted” on two way (orange+green)
    * average time on page for AMP and desktop pageviews are collapsed
    * pages/session on desktop are doubled.

    I know, it’s complicated ??

    thanks for your support!
    Dario

    @dariocalamai thanks for these details.

I used custom script to identify AMP page on, something like: “extraUrlParams”:{“cd1″:”AMP”} because I need to create custom graphs on GA (I’ll add some example)

    1) Was this implementation a part of the method were you using to add Analytics to your AMP and non-AMP pages before Site Kit?

Site should detect other Analytics tracking IDs, and would not insert its snippet unless it was manually configured in the settings. In that case, your previous method should be removed manually to avoid double tracking.

    2) Did you keep or remove your previous method when you enabled Analytics with Site Kit?

    3) Just to confirm: are you using AMP for WP plugin to create your AMP pages?

    @reneesoffice thanks for your questions.

    1) yes, I used this implementation before using Site Kit. I added code manually.
    2) yes, I removed all my GA code before activate Site Kit.
    3) yes, I’m using AMP for WP plugin.

Yesterday, I understood that using Detailed Page Stats on Site Kit WordPress plugin I have 3/5 active users on GA (with Medium (none), Source (direct), mixed desktop/mobile, from italy or belgium, the visit lasts about 6minutes)!!
I have to exclude these visits from GA.

@dariocalamai thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if this is a factor, but when you add the code snippet from Site Kit and remove your own, Site Kit wouldn’t “know” the customizations you had previously and insert the default code snippet for non-AMP and AMP pages.

You could try restoring your previous Analytics snippet code for non-AMP and AMP pages and remove Site Kit snippet (or Analytics tag integration with Tag Manager). To remove Site Kit’s Analytics snippet, go to Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit > Remove Snippet. You can still configure Analytics to display your site data in the dashboard without using Site Kit’s snippet.

Feel free to follow up if that helps!
