Hello. I just installed your plugin on our company website. Seems pretty cool. But here’s my question: we had manually added the Tag Manager scripts to the header/footer. So with your plugin installed, should these scripts be removed? I don’t want to have that loaded on the site twice or placed unnecessarily. Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out, that’s a good question. If you already have your Tag Manager scripts manually placed Site Kit will recognize these during setup. You can then continue to connect the Tag Manager module if you wish, using your manually placed snippet.

Note that if you change themes or remove your manually placed snippet you can always go back into the Site Kit settings to allow the plugin to insert the snippets if preferred.

Let me know if you have any further queries on this.

Thank you for the feedback. One last question: is there any benefit to manual process vs through the plugin? Just want to make sure we’re going about this in the best way. Thanks!

No problem at all. There’s no performance difference between a manual vs plugin placed snippet.

Bear in mind if you’re not using a child theme and you’ve manually placed your snippets into your theme templates these may get overwritten during theme updates, so just be sure you insert your manually placed snippets into a child theme or via a custom or header & footer snippets plugin – if using the manual approach.

Let me know if you have any further questions on this and we’d be happy to assist. If you’ve been using Site Kit for a while be sure to also share your thoughts on the plugin.
