    Hi,

your plugin seems to be the most widely used WP plugin for Analytics integration. As such, I want to make our own plugin compatible with this plugin.

However, it seems this plugin only supports the old way of Google Analytics (analytics.js with the familiar (i,s,o,g,r,a,m) function and not the new, recommended, way using gtag.js.

Are there plans to use this new method in the near future?

    Hi there,
gtag isn’t a replacement for analytics.js, in fact when you use gtag to load analytics it just requests a copy of analytics.js and loads that. For several reasons, such as performance, bugs in gtag’s loading system and lack of full analytics.js support we have decided to not move to gtag.js. Notably Google has decided to do the same with many of it’s libraries for the same reason, and given the conversations we’ve had with their developers, partner guidance from Google and the previous mentioned issues with gtag, we are using analytics.js for now, thouugh once Google has resolved these issues and issues updated partner guidance recommending a move then we will do so

    Hi,

ah thanks, I didn’t know gtag loads analytics.js. I will see if that helps me integrate the plugin.

    Thanks!
    Sander
