    Hi,
I have just converted my entire site to AMP and have installed the Google Site Kit plugin to set up my analytics. I have added my google analytics property. 24 hours later, my google analytics was showing 0 visitors (even though I could see real time visitors during that time). I dug a little deeper and then created a google tag container for AMP pages. I’ve tried to test the tag with tag assistant but it doesn’t seem to show on the page, even though site kit has inserted the snippet. Any ideas?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @deniseconway thanks for reaching out. Looking at your website and source code I cannot see the Site Kit inserted snippet. Please could you provide the following:

    1. Your Site Health information or privately via this form.
    2. If you go to Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > Analytics is your expected Analytics property connected and are the ‘place Analytics code’ options selected?

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi @adamdunnage thanks for responding. I have submitted site health info as instructed.

In site kit settings, I see the following relating to snippets in analytics:

    Universal Analytics Code Snippet
The code is controlled by the Tag Manager module.

    Google Analytics 4 Code Snippet
    Snippet is inserted

and in sit kit settings, I see the following relating to the tag manager:
    Tag Manager Code Snippet
    Snippet is inserted

@deniseconway thanks for the information. So as I understand you have set up an Analytics property for your website which you connected using Site Kit.

You then wanted to track your AMP page stats so created a tag for this. Was this done via Analytics or in your Google Tag Manager?

Have you then connected Your Tag Manager account with Site Kit?

    Is this all correct?

    Hi @adamdunnage

Sorry, I expect I haven’t explained the issue very well.

My website has been running for years with my google analytics property. Earlier this year I enabled GA4 analytics and the tag for GA4 is connected to my analytics property.

I rebuilt my site using AMP only and launched the new site on Thursday. I installed site kit and connected my google analytics property. I was prompted by site kit to also connect the GA4 property when doing the installation. At this point, Tag manager was not connected when looking at site kit connected services.

When I didn’t see any traffic after 24 hours, I did some research and found an article suggesting I should create a tag for AMP analytics. I created the tag in tag manager. I then connected my tag manager in site kit in the connected services tab.

I should add that when I select the option to edit the tag manager connection in site kit, it says the following: Looks like you’re using Google Analytics. Your Analytics property UA-(MyGAID)-1 is already set up in your Google Tag Manager configuration, so Site Kit will switch to using Google Tag Manager for Analytics. (I replaced my Google analytics ID with MyGAID for this post.

Make sense? Have I done things the wrong way around?

    Thanks for your help!

@deniseconway no problem at all and thanks very much for further explaining.

I can see that you are using AMP in standard mode, therefore there is no non AMP version, it’s a fully AMP site. Have you added an AMP analytics tag via an AMP container in tag manager?

Could you try and temporarily remove the Tag Manager module from your site, then allow the Site Kit Analytics module (and not Tag Manager) to insert the Analytics snippet on your site.

After doing this you can visit your site while using the Google Analytics real time report, to ensure that visits to your site are being tracked.

If they are being tracked then Site Kit is working as expected and you are free to leave this set up this way if you are happy to. If you want to revert back to using Google Tag Manager then you will need to add an AMP container that includes a Google Tag Manager tag for AMP Analytics.

Let me know how you get on with this and if you have any further questions.

    Hi @adamdunnage,

Thanks for your help. I actually found that I had some additional configurations required on the Tag Manager. I couldn’t find it documented anywhere but once events and triggers are configured in tag manager, I can see events in analytics. I will let it sit for the next few days to see if I am catching everything. The tag assistant still doesn’t seem to work on the site but maybe that’s a different issue.

    Happy Christmas ??
