Hi, I tried replicating this with the following text in the Classic Editor using the Text mode

<em>This is some random text on the first line

Here is more text on a second line

Additional text on a 3rd line with the closing EM tag</em>

However, the content displayed on a single line for me. I hit Enter on the keyboard twice at the end of each line to create a new line. Have you added any custom CSS to the theme that may be creating that display issue?

Nope. No custom CSS at all. I use just inbuilt HTML Classic Editor and click Enter twice as well.

Here is how your example looks like:

Tested on clean Twenty Twenty theme without any addons.

One more experiment: if I put the strings in <p>...</p> tag, all the strings go to the left.

By HTML Classic Editor are you referring to having the Classic Editor (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/classic-editor/) plugin installed and then editing the post using the Text tab at the top right of the content entry area?

I’ve tried a few different configurations but I haven’t been able to recreate your particular issue.

Actually not. I’m using WordPress version 4.7.15 at the moment and Classic Editor is used by default. There is no Gutenberg in this version yet. I’m going to switch to WordPress 5.3 right now and preview Theme in order to see how everything works, because I have a lot of posts with different elements and want to be sure they are displayed correctly.

I tried it on completely different site with WordPress 5.2.4 installed. The issue is there as well. I recreated it using classic Gutenberg block in HTML mode.

I’m not seeing this issue myself under WordPress 5.3, but it is possible that theme requires WordPress 5.3 in some way, since it debuted as the new default theme in WordPress 5.3.

Updated to WordPress 5.3. The issue is still there ??

Can you reproduce the issue under Twenty Nineteen?

No. Under Twenty Nineteen everything is fine.

Ok, would you please report that via https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/newticket ?

Please make sure to preface the ticket’s name with Twenty Twenty: like the others at https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/search?q=twenty+twenty%3A and use “Bundled Theme” for the component.
