    Hello,
I have a multilingual website, using qTranslate X. I just started changing tags to multilingual, and it works fine, except then after clicking on Tags in a widget, there is information “No albums or photos found matching your search criteria.” So far i only changed one Tag (architecture, which is now [:en]architecture[:de]Architektur[:pl]architektura), the tags, which are not multilingual work fine. The hover text shows number of pictures and % of the multilingual Tag, and it’s also “searchable” in Album admin page. After searching for either ‘architecture’ or ‘Architektur’ all the appropriate photos appear.
I’d be very grateful for help.
    all the best,
    mirabelka

I wonder how you came to this.

I tried to duplicate your situation, and installed qTranslate-x and added a few languages.
Then i uploaded a photo of my dog, and added the tag [:nl]hond[:fr]chien[:en]dog[:de]hund[:] to the photo (Note the ending [:] is VERY important!!!).
The result can be shown here: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/fr/test-page/
I noticed that both the tagcloud and the multitag selector widget show the UNtranslated tags. The widgets work as expected, so i thought i only needed to make the display translated and keep the functionality as it is now.

BUT: Your tagcloud shows the translated tag… how did you manage to get there?

Thank you very much for the answer.

    So now i changed a colour?Farbe?kolor tag into [:en]colour[:de]Farbe[:pl]kolor[:].
Adding [:] at the end actually made it worse somehow. Now only the first word is searchable in album admin page.

    So: when searching for “colour”:
there are 3 photos found with the Tag [:en]colour[:de]Farbe[:pl]kolor[:].

When searching for “farbe” or “kolor” there are 0 results.

I tried also changing the language i edit website in, but searching for “Farbe” while the admin interface is in German also doesn’t yield any results.
But while hovering over the tag, there is a number of pictures visible.

As for the question how i managed to have translated tags – i’m afraid i have no idea, i just put them like that, following suggestions from this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/multilingual-links-on-wppa/

Notice, that there is no ending [:] for the links. That’s why i didn’t use it with tags.

eh. and i was sooo happy when i discovered that i can have albums and photos descriptions in different languages – that works perfectly:
    https://www.mirabelka.org/photo-albums/?wppa-album=280&wppa-cover=0&wppa-occur=1

I also changed the description of the first photo, and it works.
What’s funny, originally i didn’t end the name of the album with [:], and it worked anyway. i checked now with photo description – also works with or without [:].

anyway, thank you for the answer, any suggestions are welcome ??

The search index database is maintained at the background, so when you change anything it may take a while before you can find photos. Make sure you ticked Table IX-E3, to include tags in the searcheable items.

    Have a look here: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/test-page/

I added a photo search widget, and you can search on ‘dog’, ‘hond’, ‘chien’ and ‘hund’ to find Kimmy.

You can force remaking the index db table in Table VIII-A8.2 Use the Start! button and wait until it says Ready 0

The importance of the [:] closure is to make sure that text that is added to the multilingual token is not interpreted as part of the last language.
Example: If you have 2 tags [:en]colour[:de]Farbe[:pl]kolor and model you may expect problems when they appear together. Just be safe and use an ending [:].
This also makes it possible to process: [:en]colour[:de]Farbe[:pl]kolor[:]Additional text[:nl]hond[:fr]chien[:en]dog[:de]hund[:] in one translation operation. Imagin what happened when it were [:en]colour[:de]Farbe[:pl]kolor Additional text[:nl]hond[:fr]chien[:en]dog[:de]hund[:]

Thank you for explaining the importance of a [:]. You’re right of course, that would make a difference with more text added.

(Although tags are separated with comma, so it shouldn’t affect search results. Some of the pictures with tag [:en]architecture[:de]Architektur[:pl]architektura
had also other tags added, after a comma, and it worked ok (for search results).)

Also, yes, now i can also search for Farbe and kolor and it works, it needed some time (i had tags included in the search from the beginning).

I noticed, that now tags work perfectly on your test site. How???

I checked what is the difference between links, and somehow links on my website don’t include the whole tag, like yours, only one language:
    https://www.mirabelka.org/de/photo-albums/?wppa-album=0&wppa-cover=0&wppa-occur=1&wppa-tag=Farbe

I remade index photos, didn’t change anything.

Please, could you tell me, how did you make it work on your website?

    Kimmy is very cute ??

To fix the urls and the functionality:
Go to the Settings page of qTranslate-x -> Advanced.
There are two radiobuttons at the setting Translation of options
Tick the button near the input field: Translate only options listed below (for experts only):

Now it will work, but you will see the untranslated tags in te tagcloud.
To fix this, update wppa to version 6.9.04 as soon as it is reeased (later today or tomorrow)
