• Is there somebody that can give me some advice on which combination of tagging plugins is best to use: Simple tagging plugin, Add Meta tags plugin and SEO title tags plugin ?

  • youre talking apples and oranges using mentioning those three in the same context.

    meta tags are not ‘tags’.
    titles are not ‘tags’.

the meta tag plugins are used to populate the keyword and description values in your header.

the SEO title tag probably does something similar and putzes around with the titles of your permalink pages as well.

simple tagging, I believe is similar to jeromes tags, or ultimate tag warrior, which dont affect any of the above.

without knowing what you mean by tagging its hard to recommend anything.

My goal is to improve visibility, that’s all. If one of them does this job, then ok for me. But think of this: my question just reflects the confusion that exists about these plugins, what exactly they do and what the difference is between them. Everybody talks about title tags but nobody shows what that really means.

After my research on the net for two days I still don’t know how they overlap or complement each other. I know that in WP2.2.1 by default one disposes of a comma separated list of tags to fill in. SEO title tags seems to add a second title tag box and offers a million options to configure nobody cares about. Simple plugin offers another zillion options. No wonder I pose this question. Only the meta tag plugin is an “install and go” approach which I like !

    <title></title>

thats plain old html, and theyre included on every wordpress page, by default. You could have googled title tag to have discovered that.

If everyone used google forums like this would be dead.

Title tags are good for improving your visabilty in search engines. It is important to have a unique and appropriate title tag for each page. From what I can see WordPress automatically puts your blog name and your post title into the title tags so as long as you give every page a unique name then every title will be unique. Is there any real need for the Title Plug In ???

As for meta tags and meta description. Not much use for the major search engine which is google. So I wouldn’t loose slepp other using these or not. Google has a knack of making a meta description from appropriate sentences on the page.

A tagging system. I’m no expert but these tags do seem to show in google. I would use a tagging system.

What do other users think ???

I am still not following. Ok, technically a title tag is just an HTML tag, no problem with that.

But to take it step by step, what does the standard comma separated tag-box under the WP2.2.1-editor do ? Does this improve visibility ? It’s not a title tag-box apparently, since if I enable the SEO title tags plugin, the latter adds a box saying “title tag (optional)” above the previous one. So what does this one do for improving visibility on top of the previous one ?

tagging, as you are describing it is this, jolato:

like flickr tags, or for instance, this:
