• I’ve tried all the steps (including Ctrl + F5) in the resolved/closed forum discussion covering the same topic, but I’ve had no luck. The update has been saved and appears correctly in the Tag Line editor, even after log-off and log back in, but not in the live view. Please tell me how to resolve.

  • You can check your header.php file to see if it was manually placed there.

Did you have someone else set up your site originally?

Yes, someone else built my site, and it has cost me three times as much as he originally bid because I have had to keep relying on him to fix things.

How do I access the PHP file to check? I am not a programmer, but I do have a MATC degree. I had to learn how to build a site in DreamWeaver, so I think I should be able to find and fix, if I can just figure out how to get to the code.

Thanks so much for your help and very prompt response!

You can do it in the dashboard – in the left column buttons, pick appearance, and then edit – there you will see the theme files.

If you have FTP set up and have a text editor it is easier in general to edit using the editor and FTP, but if its an infrequent thing, the Dashboard theme editor works just fine.

Thanks for explaining where to find the code.

I’ve scrolled through the whole file in the Editor, and I can see NO content (text) embedded in the code, anywhere. Any other ideas?

Do you have any cache plugins installed?

What does it say in your settings > general for tagline? (can you post it here?)

It has my updated change to my tagline.

Yes, I have several plugins and list of updates pending. But my developer has told me to hold off since I will have to pay him to do the work.

(I really, really want and need to be doing this work myself. All of the money I was going to spend advertising my site has gone to him … )

I just updated my user search cache, but it made no difference, either.

I have WooCommerce, Chimpy Lite, UPME, Ignite Woo, GEO my WP (although I’m not really using it), and a few others …

    FYI

I just attended a WP Meetup. A member tried to help me, running me through all the same steps you’ve suggested. We even deleted and re-entered the new content, only to render the same results I report. She then tried loading my site on her laptop, but the content was no different on her system.

    Thus, my problem is ongoing.

Thanks very much for your help!

    Best,
    Carol

This should be a simple thing to do… why don’t you try just asking your developer where to change it/why it didn’t change when you entered new text.

I don’t think he would charge you to answer a question… I do the same kind of thing all the time for my clients.

Thanks, Janet. I will try. But you may hear from me, again.
