    Hello and welcome!

    The usage of tag descriptions on the front end is theme dependent. It’s actually fairly common for themes to not display tag descriptions, or only do so under limited circumstances. This is why under the description field in the tag editor there is this note:

    The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.

    It would be possible to customize your theme so that descriptions are displayed where you want them, but it’ll likely take a small amount of coding to do so. I recommend seeking guidance through your theme’s dedicated support channel. The devs and expert users there know the theme best.
