tags not working in wordpress 4.4.2

    I have recently upgraded wordpress to 4.4.2. I always write my articles in html editor. My website has around 430 articles and I had always used
    tag to space the paragraphs. After this upgrade, the
    tags are no more visible and wordpress automatically inserted <p></p> tags.

    How can I get back the old
    tags working? Did wordpress update the html sources of my articles? Please let me know. Thanks.

    It’s br tags. Even this editor removed the BR tag ??

    Ok. I added the below line to functions.php file of the theme and it worked at least for BR tags.
