Tags suddenly started appearing

    I’m a newbie, running WordPress under Fedora-6.
    Yesterday when I edited a post, the HTML tags <p>, </p>, etc, did not appear; but today they are present.
    Did I inadvertently change some setting? Or did I, perhaps, inadvertently update WP?

    I see that I can click on an icon in the toolbar to start a numbered or unnumbered list. Is there any way of getting other icons into the toolbar, eg to help write URLs?
