Takes forever to connect to WordPress site

    The load time of my site is very small, as tested with pingdom – but it takes about 5-10 seconds prior to anything beginning to load where the browser shows it’s “connecting” to the site.

    It does this on the live site and on the admin panel, consistently, every time I load a page.

    I’m hosted on GoDaddy – is there a DNS change or something on that end that would make a difference? If not, how can I remedy this?
