Taking over a businesses page

  • So this site was made by a gentleman that has passed away from cancer. The business owner has asked me to take over and continue the project.

    I have a host through hostgator, and the business owner owns the domain through a company called namebright.

    When I installed WP on the host using the owners domain, it automatically pulls up the old site. But I do not have the late gentlemans admin login information to access the WP side of things.

    My question is how do I get this old site either deleted so I can start over, or gain access to the site not knowing where it was hosted or the current admin login information

    I have tried to uninstal via the Softaculous manager (including deleting databases) and reinstall WP. But i believe the previous dev’s database is still active cause the site doesnt go away
