• [Topic modified – “TALK TO A REAL PERSON” is not a useful topic and all caps is considered yelling – please don’t do that here]

Please help. I used a plug in and maybe changed some code and now my site is all screwed up. Everything is disappeared from my dashboard. I can’t log in with my user name and password, and the password recovery isn’t coming to my email address. Can i PLEASE talk to a real person before I freak out totally….

  • Real people help on these forums :). You’ll need to use FTP to access the files on your server and deactivate all your plugins by changing the name on the plugins folder:

    wp-content
        plugins.HOLD

If you’re not familiar with FTP see:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/FTP_Clients

You’ll need to ask your hosting company for the info to set up FTP for your site.

Hi Real Person…WPyogi…thanks. I’m trying that…..I ended up with a gigantic section of code on my admin pages.

Okay, depending on what you changed, you may need to also do the same kind of thing – but to your active theme folder – whatever theme you are using currently.

But see if the plugins change works first.

    Also, what’s your site URL?

Hi WPyogi, I am talking to my host company…am i supposed to rename it
    “wp-contentplugins.HOLD”

So this will deactivate all my plug ins…then what….can we talk on the phone

The plugins folder should be renamed to plugins.HOLD. But what did you change?

These forums don’t provide phone support, sorry.

I changed some CSS in Zoo Effect…https://1pluginjquery.zendesk.com/home

My site is vickiwinters.com but there is no problem on the front end. It’s all in the admin….

You site doesn’t seem to be working at all now – what have you changed via FTP?

If it’s a plugin (zoo effects?) causing the problem, you should be able to delete that plugin. But I’m not sure what you changed exactly or where.

(I also have to get off right now for a few hours – but someone else should be able to help you get this fixed – and I’ll check back when I’m back online — can’t do that while driving and I’ve 150 miles to go today.)

I deleted the plug in earlier. Now I changed the name of the folder and now my site is down and my whole dashboard has been deleted. No more saved folders, plug-ins, themes, NOTHING! SOS!

Now I changed the name of the folder

Changed the name of what folder?
