I am using default APA style which automatically adds the doi links to my citations. Best practice is to open the links in a new browser tab. Therefore, I tried adding target=”new” (as given in the docs) or target=”_blank” (as suggested in another support thread) to the shortcode but nothing happens unfortunately ??

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

My understanding is that it’s best practice to leave control over how the link behaves with the end user. The target attribute is an override and I think you’re right that it doesn’t overwrite the DOI links since that’s a new feature — I’ll add it to the to-do list.

Thanks a lot! I am looking forward to this feature and I think I am not the only one. Visitors often don’t think much and just click a link. Neither blog authors nor visitors expect that the article they were reading carefully gets lost somewhere in browser history just because they clicked on a citation link in the bibliography.

This will be working in the next version of Zotpress.
