"target=_blank" on WordPress Menu Widget external links

  • I really like the new menu system on wordpress 3.0+ but I have external links I want to put on my menu list and WordPress doesn’t give you the option to target the link into a new window. Is there a way around this? Thank you.

    I do not see the drop down menu of link targets in my version of WP 3.1?? Where does this option appear?

    if you go to screen options in the top right corner of your admin, under ‘Show advanced menu properties’ you should be able to then choose:

    Link Target

    this will reveal that option dropdown box below in your menu selection

    I feel like a bozo. Searching for another problem the other day I noticed that these features were hidden under that tab. I did not realize that “screen options” are context sensitive!! As I say, what a bozo!
