Our zero rate accounts are being charged tax on shipping when they shouldn’t be.

Is there a way to make sure that these accounts will not be charged tax on their purchases whatsoever, even though they exist in a taxable state?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,

Just to make sure – how are you settings *users* or *accounts* to be zero-rated? I’m asking as only products or shipping methods have the options to determine the shipping class that should be used?

Can you share screenshots of where a user is being charged tax when they shouldn’t be?

I’m using a plugin that allows me to create custom user roles, and assign a “tax class” to them. In this case, I have the roles tax class set to zero rate, which I assumed pulled information from the WooCommerce zero rate tax settings.

In my OP I linked to a screenshot of my zero rate tax settings. There’s an option as to whether or not taxes should be applied to shipping. The user role plugin does interpret zero rate correctly for products upon checkout, but only charges tax on the cost of shipping.

These are the tax settings for all products–

Because of this, I thought that it may have something to do with WooCommerce more so than the user role plugin.

Edit: I’m using the premium version of this plugin–

I see; From the screenshots you shared and comparing that with how things work in the default version of WooCommerce – this is something that the developers of your custom role plugin would need to look into as it sounds like the tax classes of these roles aren’t taking shipping into account

    Hi @stylise,

I will go ahead and close this thread, however if the developers redirect you back to WooCommerce be sure to get why they believe the issue is with WooCommerce and let us know, as we can re-open this thread.

Take care and have a super day!
