I noticed what looks like a bug in the checkout page for updating tax amounts

Tax does not update automatically when changing ship to address.

If a user enters a shipping address, then edits that address (or changes it) the tax amount remains the same from the previous address entered.

A user can enter a shipping address with 0 states tax (New Hampshire) then edit that address to their delivery destination and the tax will not be charged.

The only way to get the tax amount to change is by clicking the “use billing address” radio button.

    Config:

    • Taxes are loaded into the standard rate fields
    • Taxes include shipping
    • Taxes calculated by ship to address
    • Enable tax rates and calculations
    • Round prices at subtotal level
    • Display shop and cart excluding tax and as single total

anyone else seeing this or know whats causing it and how to fix it? Charging the incorrect tax is a big no-no!

  • Hi there @hoolamonster

Thank you for reaching out about this. From what I gather, this inquiry is related with incorrect tax calculation at your store’s Checkout page.

To help you further, I’d like to understand more about your setup.

Could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Once you’ve done that, you can paste the text in https://gist.github.com/, or https://pastebin.com/, and feel free to change/remove your site URL in the report for privacy reasons.

You can paste the Gist/Pastebin link here in your reply, once you have that.

Furthermore, a picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. Therefore, could you also share a screenshot of the configuration screens mentioned in your message, please? https://snipboard.io/ is a good (online) tool of choice for sharing it here.

Lastly, just to clarify, the behavior you are you noticing at the Checkout page is in what way related with the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway?

Looking forward to your response. Thank you. ??

    Hi,

Thank you for sending the system report.

WC Database Version: 7.3.0: As a first step, please update your database, this is under WooCommerce > status > tools > update database. Let’s see if that helps.

If not, please provide a screenshot of your tax settings under WooCommerce > settings > tax. You can send one for the tax options, and another for the Standard rate settings.

For screenshots, you may want to use https://snipboard.io – please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.

    Thanks.

    Just to clarify taxes:

I have taxes for States entered with only their state aberration and set to priority 1, I have zip codes entered only (for cities/counties) with priority 2. This is what you will see in the screenshot for the taxes (under standard rate).

I was able to get this worked out. As it where, there was a checkout template file in the child theme with changes to it. These edits where causing a conflict with the dynamic update of the sales tax.

    Hey there @hoolamonster,
