Tax settings greyed out

    I am finding I cannot change any of the taxes settings. The drop downs don’t work and the field is greyed out. I cannot change
    Calculate tax based on

    Shipping tax class
    Rounding
    Display prices in the shop
    Display prices during cart and checkout
    Price display suffix
    Display tax totals

    I noticed the issue when I couldn’t see the taxes included in the price in the shopping cart

    Hi, @fireflywebs!

    It sounds like you have automated taxes enabled through the WooCommerce services — if so, you won’t be able to make changes to the default settings until you’ve disabled the automated tax settings

    Update…. This issue was caused …in my case… by the ‘PayPal Checkout’ payment option. I switched it to just ‘paypal’ instead and the options for tax settings were re-enabled.

    But my shopping cart is not showing the taxes although I have it set to
    Display prices during cart and checkout including tax.

    And this was rectified by your suggestion to disable automated taxes. Thank you. When would one use automated taxes?

    Can you suggest a info doc on how to set up Canadian Tax codes? Some provinces are HST and some are just GST, etc.
