How can I get this to work if some products have a tax status of “none”. I still want to be able to edit the unit cost and have the total calculate correctly but when I save the item, the unit cost updates and appears to have a tax taken off it,

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch with us and thank you for taking an interest in our plugin, we hope you are finding it helpful! With regard to your query, this plugin is designed to assist with stores that only have taxable products, and the function only works with product line items (not custom fees or shipping).

We have however developed a premium version which does support the skipping of products that have a tax status of “none” or a 0% tax and it also works with both custom fees and shipping items. If you are interested, you can get more info and purchase this version from the official WooCommerce marketplace here: https://woocommerce.com/products/admin-order-modifier/

Thanks again and if you need more info, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Correct me if I am wrong, but your pro version just skips the calculation all together for none tax items doesn’t it? I still want to be able to adjust the unit cost and have the total calculate it. With the pro version, selecting tht setting to skip none taxable products means I cannot edit the unit cost at all – is that right?

Thanks for your feedback and apologies for any confusion caused but when we say our plugin “skips” tax exempt products we mean it skips the automatic tax calculation portion. You absolutely can still edit the unit cost and apply discounts as per base WooCommerce functionality and the total calculation includes the tax exempt products, you can see examples below:

    Base price

    Edit price

    Apply discounted price

Hope that helps, but let us know if you need more info!

Okay, I seem to be having a problem with that setting. In woocommerce settings, I have selected “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax”. If I select the “Enable for zero tax items” option it correctly displays the Cost (Incl) value and the Cost value for an item that is taxable. If I deselect the “Enable for zero tax items” option, then none taxable items correctly display the cost price but the taxable items calculate incorrectly (when clicking recalculate, a tax is added on top of the already tax inclusive price). Is there something wrong my setup?

Hi there, thank you for the additional info, deselecting the “Enable for zero tax items” checkbox should be the method to follow but the fact that it is not working means there could be something unique in your setup or it could possibly be a plugin conflict. However this forum is reserved for support and feature requests for the free version of the plugin. While the two plugins do share some elements they are inherently separate pieces of software with different functionality and so to avoid confusion and to ensure we can support you in the best way possible with this issue, please submit a support ticket via your premium WooCommerce support portal here (https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/)

I trust the above is in order and if you have any further requests pertaining to the functionality of the free version, please do reach out. I am marking this issue as resolved for now.
