Taxes for options

My client sells events, and the buyer can choose to purchase a book with the event ticket. The problem is that the event is tax-free, while the book has to have a tax class. I’m looking at WC’s Product Add-on extension here, but I see that doesn’t allow me to set a tax on the option (their bookkeeper needs to keep track of tax).
Any ideas for either making that plugin offer tax or is there another plugin that I don’t know about?
