I built several post types and taxonomies for this dev site. The site was taken as a copy from the production site that someone else had worked on. As I approached the finalization of the site I noticed the blog page had never been assigned (Settings>>Reading). All the taxonomies were in the menus selection but when I created the missing “Blog” page and assigned it all the CPT taxonomies had disappeared from the menu selection. With that said I checked all the CPT and the taxonomies were still there in each CPT and everything works as it should. When checking each of the CPT the REST API is set to True but at the bottom, there were no taxonomies ticked for each of the CPT except one.
Like I said the site is functioning correctly and everything is displaying correctly. Intuitively I would just reset the taxonomies by ticking the ones that apply to each post type but what has stopped me is why would the one post type still have its taxonomy still assigned and does not show up in the manu which is why I am here, is it safe to reassign the taxonomies to its post type or if I do will that cause an even bigger problem.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Just to be certain, which menu are you referring to? The Admin Dashboard menu on the left? Where normally associated taxonomies show up as a submenu item in the area for the post type? Instead that’s just showing nothing ?

Or are you referring to some menu that may be available on the frontend when using the site?

Only thing that I can think that would have been affected by creating the Settings->Reading permalink selection would be which template gets used by default for the given page. However it shouldn’t affect content type registrations at all.

Sorry I should have been more specific, it is in the navigation menu at the backend. I made a Loom recording if that helps https://www.loom.com/share/d94c33bac3914a4181c65b0d554e5a97

Thank you for the video, that definitely helped.

Regarding the menu creation screen, I’m curious if you just need to click the Screen Options button at the upper right corner and get the taxonomy panels re-toggled. This is of course assuming they’re all still set to show in nav menus.

Regarding the list of associated taxonomies, I assume when you registered the taxonomy, you associated it with the intended post type. A detail that may be a bit confusing to some since you can do the post type/taxonomy association from both registration points, however WP doesn’t allow for registering a taxonomy without an association.

Geeeshh, I’m embarrassed… I checked every screen option on every post type and didn’t even look at the one on the menu creation page. How they were all unchecked is beyond me…I’ll go hide with a red face now, sorry I wasted your time.

No worries and no wasted time either. Happens to the best of us sometimes.
