    Hi,

I am currently using CoursePress as a test platform for a new online course and it has several very useful features compared with some of the other LMS.

I like how it is organised from the admin side and also how it presents the learning content (and navigation) to learners.

However, one major drawback compared with some of the other LMS for WordPress is that it does not have inbuilt auto email notifications to teachers when a learner enrols or finishes a unit/course. This is an essential feature for effective learner management – I was surprised that the learner email notifications settings did not enable a cc or bcc to an admin/teacher email.

I notice from the coursepress pro forum (link below) that it is possible to make a manual code modification to enable auto teacher email alert when a student enrols on a course. Would you be able to provide the code to enable auto emails when learners complete a unit and course?

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/is-coursepress-pro-able-to-send-notifications-to-teachers-about-enrollmentassignments

I am thinking of upgrading to Pro version as we need more than 2 courses, but the lack of auto email teacher notifications may mean that we have to select an alternative LMS (even though I prefer many of the features of CoursePress from admin/learners perspectives). This is an essential feature for an effective LMS so it would be great if your developers could add this feature to the plug-in.

    Thanks.

    Hey there HH1,

    How are you doing today?

I agree this can be very useful in the LMS and it is something that should be implemented.

As you can see in the same thread we are planning integration with one of our other plugins that will allow you to do similar things. Unfortunately I can’t provide the ETA on when this will be available as a feature in the plugin.

I guess if you purchase the plugin and this takes time you could ask for the similar thing on the forum and one of our SLS could provide a solution for this ??

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    Hi Brojan,

Thanks for the response – I appreciate it.

Teacher email notifications aren’t just useful, they are an essential part of a good LMS to enable tracking of learners as they progress through courses – it is hard to understand why WPMUDEV have left this out as CoursePress has many other good features.

I have to justify any plug-in purchases to my boss and I’m not sure what they’ll think if I say that I’d like to use CoursePress Pro but it is missing an essential feature that our course teachers have requested, but that it might have it at some point in the future but you don’t know when (I notice from the thread that integration with Automessage was last mentioned by Marko in January – and we are now in March with no ETA).

I hope you can understand my situation – I would love to use CoursePress (Pro) but I will find it hard to justify the expenditure when my boss asks why it hasn’t got email notifications for teachers. Even if this was a feature that you had to purchase the Pro version to obtain.

Any information you could provide to help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hey again,

I completely agree with you on the teacher email notifications and understand your position. We simply don’t publish ETAs to prevent disappointment if a deadline is missed, which in plugin development quite a frequent occurrence.

I’ll try to provide more information on this after contacting developers.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    Hi @hh1,

Just following up here as you left some feedback on this in a review, and I’ve since posted some detail for adding this by code there:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/a-promising-start-but-several-improvements-needed-to-be-a-truly-effective-lms?replies=4#post-

I hope that’s helpful, I think it should sort this out rather neatly while we look into getting features like this built in.

Just let us know if there’s anything we can do to assist. ??

    Thanks,
    David
