    I will look into this as soon as possible. I don’t have a lot of time available

    The plugin works. I can see the highlight code #FF0000 is there. (https://i60.tinypic.com/2z8npcj.png)

    Please check if the shortcode used without the highlight color. It might overrule he default setting.
