You need to review https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress – specifically the section entitled “Changing Your Domain Name and URLs”.

Thans @esmi I have had a quick read – but it look beyond me! Are you sure this is the issue?

Check (but do not change) the urls entered in Settings -> General.

Yes, i did that – this looks fine. I wonder if I installed it incorrectly? (I’ve not moved the site – it’s freshly installed last week and just being developed in the live location – but I wonder if it thinks it’s in the temp location??

    What are the urls?

Was the domain name registered and fully propagated before you installed WP? Or did you use a temp url initially?
Did you install WP manually or dud you use a 1-click installer provided by the hosts?

Another thought – are you using a custom menu and could the Home url have been hardcoded into that menu?

Yes the domain was propagated and added to my hosting before I installed WP.
I must admit, I was intending to install in the temp location (so I could dev it offline before going live) but somehow it was live from the word go – I didn’t mind this, as I pretty much had the content ready to add.

The installer is a 1 click within my hosting

Not custom menu -I’m using the default main menu option

Check the config settings in the 1-click installer for that WP site. It should have details of the url that was used for the install.

I’ve asked my colleague to check this out – might be a while but I’ll get back to you. Thanks ??

SORTED! the install etc was all squeaky clean – I discovered on the site ‘Menu’ that the Home page was a ‘custom link’ – and it featured that rogue url. Edited that and it’s sorted.

I think you mentioned custom menu at one point as well, Esmi.

Thank you very much for your assistance ??
