Template creation for the php challenged?

I’m trying to integrate my new website with wordpress, and I’ve come to the conclusion that to get what I want I’m going to have to actually turn my site design into a wordpress template… I want seemless integration. Trouble is, I don’t know the first thing about php… I have a hard enough time with CSS and HTML (the site linked above took two solid days to get working correctly). I think what I’m looking for is to use WordPress as a CMS, but I want to do so without altering the look of my site. I’ve spent the past two or three days scouring the internet for a good tutiorial that speaks to my level, but so far no luck. Is it possible to create a website using wordpress without advanced web programming skills, or am I simply in over my head? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
