• Hi guys, sorry for the beginner question. I wanted to ask: how exactly do you develop a template kit (so not a theme) like the kits that sell on themeforest for wordpress?
What programming languages ??do you need to know? And above all, I find no resources anywhere. The only thing I found is the guide for developing the themes, but not the templates.

Hi @robertag – I’m not sure what kind of template kits you’re referring to, could you provide a link to a couple of examples? The templates I’m familiar with are the ones in the WordPress template hierarchy, but perhaps you’re referring to something different.

Templates for Classic WordPress themes involve mostly PHP, HTML, and CSS, often with some JavaScript as well.

Templates for Block themes (those that support Full-Site Editing) use mainly JavaScript, HTML, and a bit of CSS. There may also be some PHP, but not as much as with Classic themes.

Perhaps the Theme Handbook might be helpful.
