• I’m unsure if this is the right forum, it seemed like the best fit.

    I’m new to SMF.

    I’m new to WP.

So, we’ve gotten all of this out of the way ;). Now, I like both very much, SMF is a good decent forum, and WP is very user friendly for front page management.

Last week I’ve been asked to make a site, with a forum being a frequenly used part. Not to be managed by me (both), so it all has to be low maintenance and easy to use/understand (hence the WP choice).

I’ve installed WP, got a nice page up.
I’ve installed SMF, and got lost a bit.

    Integration.

Nonono, I don’t want my users integrated, no need for that (too complicated). All I want is the SMF forum to adhere to the look and feel of the WP page.

    iframes then?

No. as stated, I’m new to this, but I am no dummy. iframes come with a bucket load of limitations and restrictions I don’t want.

Plus, the site doesn’t look like 1 entity, but rather as a forum embedded into a site (we’re currently running like that to keep going forward).

Backend and front end are non negotiable sadly enough. I’ve read up on the matter, but sadly haven’t found the needle yet, and everyone keeps tossing user integration to me instead of just a solid embedding method.

Did I overlook something or do I need to really start editting php files (not prefered) to work properly?

All I want is the site to have 1 look/feel.

    Thanks in advance,

    Darkangle

I don’t see how I would use buddypress as a wrapper. It seems like a forum on itself.

Like I wrote already, I have a solution in place, it’s just a case of making the best off it.
